For hundreds of years before the European invasion there were prophecies of the coming of the white people, the Authoritarian System and the destruction that it and they would bring. However, these same prophecies also spoke of the decline of the white way and the return of the Indigenous Way. Some of our own Occoneechee people have had visions of the coming purification. Others have had visions of the renewal to come afterwards. This section contains a few of the indigenous prophecies. Our prophecies tell us that we must return to the Indigenous Way because we are killing Mother Earth, our souls and ourselves. We have forgotten how to live on Mother Earth.
In most of the prophecies we are given choices. And the choices are simple. Either we return to the Indigenous Way peacefully or our violent and thoughtless actions will return us to the indigenous Way with as much violence as we have dealt out.
